Ella Kate Wagner, freshman at Michigan State University. She is involved in the Ionia County Youth Advisory Committee as a youth mentor, member of the Michigan Community Service Commission’s Board, mentor on the National Youth Leadership Council Youth Advisory Council, a member of the National Youth Speaker’s Bureau, and a member of the Impact Network (INET) for America’s Promise.

She has been active in service-learning since middle school. She wrote a grant and implemented a project in her school this year that addressed the local achievement gap. She also worked with peers on the achievement gap and shared those results with local curriculum directors and high school principals. She presents on the local, state and national level on service-learning.

She is an intern at the Ionia County Intermediate School District. Ionia County ISD is using her technology and organizational skills to work on the Engage Ionia (website portal for teachers and students to use social media around service-learning) and the Ionia County YAC websites and to plan upcoming youth events locally around service-learning and leadership.

Ella Kate is attending college at Michigan State University to become a physician specializing in neo-natal medicine.
