Philanthropy is a subject that is close to Jeralyn’s heart. She founded and registered two of her own nonprofit organizations, “Kids 2 Kids: Tools 4 Schools” and “CR HOMEWORKS.” Both of these organizations are registered in Iowa, but their scope reaches beyond the state. “Kids 2 Kids: Tools 4 Schools” provides educational supplies for disadvantaged youth in Iowa, Iraq, and Rwanda. In Rwanda, Jeralyn established a library and provides school supplies to the 800 children in Nyundo Orphanage. “CR HOMEWORKS” has provided new household items to 73 families who lost their homes in the flood of 2008. Along with her nonprofits, she volunteers for the Salvation Army, the History Center, the Cedar Rapids Public Library, and Habitat for Humanity. Jeralyn has volunteered over 950 hours at the Iowa City Veterans Medical Center.

Jeralyn enjoys several hobbies including playing the viola, photography, and traveling. Jeralyn is proud to be from the great State of Iowa. She is the 2009-2010 Iowa Cherry Blossom Princess. During the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Jeralyn represented the State of Iowa in Washington D.C. where she met a multitude of foreign dignitaries. Jeralyn tries to live her life by her favorite quote from Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
