Latinitas is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering Latina youth through media, art, culture and technology. Latinitas partners with schools to host on-campus, after-school programs focused on multimedia expression and service-learning. As part of the College y Tu Futuro project, Latinitas will engage Latina youth ages 11-25 in leading peer-to-peer bilingual multimedia awareness campaigns focused on encouraging Hispanic girls to stay in school and pursue higher education.

This project will help close the achievement gap for Latina youth by engaging Hispanic girls in developing and implementing peer-to-peer presentations and multimedia awareness campaigns on the importance of education. These service-learning initiatives will help:
-build girls’ self-esteem
-orient girls to higher education
-introduce girls to profession careers
-highlight positive female and Latina role models
-encourage girls to complete their high school education
-raise their expectations of attending college
-improve the quality of preparation for higher education
-provide academic and life-skills training.
-involve parents in the education decision-making process
