The ultimate goal of Operation Foresees is to integrate service learning into existing curriculum for the purpose of providing protection to all students during a crisis response. We will address four main issues: Community Activism (Preparedness), Community Enrichment, (Prevention, Health and Physical Fitness) Community Preservation, (Recovery) and Community Readiness, (Response).
Operation Foresees (4C’s) addresses Natural and Societal Disaster Preparedness by integrating daily lessons into a service learning format. Students and teachers will identify the need for an action plan in our community that addresses how to respond in an emergency. Students will use classroom time to research disaster issues specific to our area and work on their own time to join with community partners to create an emergency action plan. This plan will include how to respond during a crisis and the relationship between keeping physically fit and response time during emergencies. With the help of Time Warner, our goal is to get our school TV station operating so that students will be able to create community service projects and PSA’s to be used in times of emergency. Students will reflect on their activities through oral and written methods and celebrate their achievements at the conclusion of each service activity.
